It’s wait 'til next year for the Bronx giraffe in the Mets’ 5-Borough Mascot Race.

The supremely unlucky giraffe , who represents the Bronx because that borough has a famous zoo, lost by a neck to the Queens 7 train in the final regular-season race on Sunday at Citi Field.

The giraffe finished the home portion of the Mets’ regular-season schedule 0-for-81.

In Sunday’s race, the giraffe battled the 7 train for most of the race along the outfield warning track. The giraffe dived at the finish line but still finished second to the subway car, which ran (rode?) through the checkered tape.
