SEATTLE, Wash. — Jani Nyman scored twice and Vince Dunn chipped in with three assists as the Seattle Kraken defeated the visiting Vancouver Canucks 5-3 their pre-season opener on Sunday night.
Eduard Sale, Jaden Schwartz and John Hayden also scored for the Kraken, who led 1-0 after the first period and 4-2 heading into the third. Kaapo Kakko also chipped in with two assists.
Victor Mancini, Chase Stillman and Nils Aman scored for the Canucks, who went 1-for-6 on the power play. The Kraken were 0-for-2.
Canucks netminder Nikita Tolopilo stopped 13 of 14 shots, while Ty Young stopped six of the 10 shots he faced.
Joey Daccord stopped nine of 11 shots for the Kraken, while Nikke Kokko stopped 13 of the 14 shots directed his way.
