PHILADELPHIA — Less than a month ago, Fred Johnson was in Jacksonville. On Sunday, the Eagles reserve offensive lineman was in the spotlight.
Johnson was the unsung hero of the Eagles’ 33-26 win against the Rams. Jordan Davis stole headlines with his scoop-and-score blocked field goal. A.J. Brown had a big day after a frustrating start to the season. Jalen Hurts and the passing game exploded in the second half. But don’t forget it was Johnson who helped key the Eagles’ unlikely comeback.
“Fred showed up and showed out when his number was called,” Hurts said.
Johnson, the seventh-year NFL journeyman, filled in when the Eagles’ other Johnson — future Hall of Fame right tackle Lane Johnson — went out with a neck injury.
