The weekend featured a comedy inside the organisation that launched only a few weeks ago as the revolutionary fighting force on the left of British politics. It has all the hallmarks of unbridled sectarianism, a scrap between followers Jeremy Corbyn in one corner and a challenger for the limelight, Zarah Sultana, in the other.

We now have a mud fight in which Corbyn referred his comrade to the Information Commission over what he claimed is a “false membership system” portal, urging supporters to cancel any donations, and Sultana claimed she was frozen out by a “sexist boys’ club” and issued legal threats for defamation – only to double back on Sunday evening and vow that she is “determined to reconcile”.
