HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A pedestrian has serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene in Hartford, fire officials said.

The incident happened around 7:25 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Wethersfield Avenue and Wyllys Street, fire officials said.

Crews at the scene found the pedestrian suffering from serious injuries and provided immediate medical care at the scene, according to fire officials.

Fire officials said the vehicle involved fled the scene.

Hartford police are investigating the incident.
