VALENCIA COUNTY, N.M. —
As overdose deaths rise in New Mexico, organizations are taking steps to provide solutions by installing a Narcan and gun lock vending machine at Los Lunas Fire Station 2 in Valencia County.
The machine offers free resources to the public, like Narcan and gun locks, almost instantly. Stacy Burleson, executive director of New Mexico Women in Leadership, has been working to determine the best locations for machines like this.
"We were trying to figure out where we can put a Narcan vending machine, where we could offer free Narcan to the public," Burleson said.
She believes that placing these resources in the hands of first responders, police officers, and people themselves can help save lives in New Mexico.
Burleson emphasized that the Narcan and gun lock vending
