Rhamondre Stevenson’s fumbling woes continued on Sunday when he lost the ball twice — once at the goal line — in the Patriots ’ 21-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers .

Both fumbles were game-changing in a close loss, and it’s unclear what Stevenson’s future as New England’s top running back looks like.

But coach Mike Vrabel isn’t placing the entire blame on Stevenson.

“It starts with everybody else. It starts with him, but it also starts with protecting the guy with the ball. So we’ll have to do a better job of that,” he said on WEEI on Monday morning . “If you look at the second guy coming in, or somebody else is making a play or not finishing, certainly it’s easy to look at the guy with the ball.
