A Monticello man was found guilty of murder in Sullivan County Court on Sept. 19.

Sullivan County District Attorney Brian Conaty said Jonte Wunner, 27, of Monticello, was found guilty of second-degree murder, concealment of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence, all felonies, following a five-day jury trial.

According to Conaty, the jury found that on Oct. 4, 2024, Wunner intentionally beat and shot 42-year-old Jose Rodriguez to death on Lakewood Avenue in the Village of Monticello.
