This weekend’s frigid temperatures in the 20s and 30s, helped produce more moderate color that’s started to stretch across Vermont and the Presidential Range of New Hampshire. On average peak color is in late September and early October, but we’re running a few weeks ahead of pace. Meaning, you’ll want to take in the sights of the foliage sooner rather than later.
I would expect a more muted and dull display this year too, due to the ongoing drought. The lack of rain has taken away from the vibrancy and lead to an early leaf drop. It’s more patchwork as trees have become stressed, and fungus from spring.
