FOLLY BEACH — Police arrested a Moncks Corner man after he reportedly stole a truck and shot at responding officers as he attempted to escape.

Justin Kyle Mack Wright, 32, was arrested Sept. 21 on 14 charges in connection to the incident, including attempted murder, carjacking and hit and run with property damage.

At around 2:30 p.m., Folly Beach police officers received a call alerting that someone had fired a gun into the air and stole a silver Chevy Silverado pickup truck along East Cooper Avenue, according to officials.

Within a minute, officers located the stolen vehicle and attempted to stop it. The truck didn’t pull over and instead struck a police vehicle while fleeing.
