Emmerdale fans think they've spotted a "clever" twist as Robert Sugden's prison past is yet to be explored.

Ever since Robert Sugden arrived back in the village earlier this year, he's had a difficult time trying to get the residents back on his side.

Actor Ryan Hawley reprised his role after a six-year absence following Robert being sentenced for the death of Lee Posner back in 2019.

He returned just in time to try and stop his ex-husband, Aaron Dingle, from marrying his half-brother, John Sugden. Although they shared a passionate kiss, it wasn't enough for Aaron to change his mind.

In the months that followed, Robert was doing everything he could to reveal whatever John was hiding, but with him being the local "hero" no one was listening.
