A 12-year-old was arrested in south Sacramento Monday morning after driving off in their parent’s car, leading deputies on chase, and striking traffic cones, a parked vehicle and a patrol car, the sheriff’s office said.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said deputies first responded after the child took the vehicle and drove to his former school on Caymus Drive after 7 a.m. He left the area are hitting some traffic cones.
Deputies then located the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the child led police on a short chase through the neighborhood.
The vehicle then struck a parked car and a patrol unit, but no one was hurt.
The juvenile was then taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office said to expect traffic delays in the area of Gerber Road and Valley Wood Drive.
