CHERRY VALLEY, Ill. (WTVO) — The new ramp at Interstate 39 and U.S. 20, part of a $44.2 million interchange project, is scheduled to open this week, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced Monday.

The reconstruction of the interchange is part of a $302 million multiyear project to improve I-39 between US 20 and Blackhawk Road.

IDOT said the new ramp will open beginning Tuesday, September 23rd and into the morning of Wednesday, September 24th.

Drivers should expect delays while traveling through the area while the traffic shift is in progress, IDOT warned.

Over the next six years, IDOT plans to improve more than 3,200 miles of highway and 9 million square feet of bridging as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program.
