ASCENSION PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A Sorrento man has been ordered to spend over a decade behind bars in connection with a child sex crimes investigation.

According to District Attorney Ricky Babin’s office, a judge sentenced Jayden McConnell, 21, to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to 20 counts of possession of child pornography. He will get credit for time served.

The charges stem from an investigation that began in July 2023 when Louisiana authorities reportedly received multiple cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Prosecutors said agents determined McConnell uploaded a variety of videos and photographs containing child sexual abuse material to an iCloud account associated with a device he owns.

He was arrested in April 2024.
