42-year-old man dead in single-car crash in Richland County

MANSFIELD, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a 42-year-old man died late Friday in a single-car crash in Richland County.

Troopers have identified the victim as Cody Newton, of Lexington, Ohio.

The crash happened just after 10 p.m. on U.S. 30 near mile post 6.

According to the highway patrol, Newton was operating a Cadillac CTS when he drove off the roadway and struck trees.

He died on scene.

First responders took his passenger, a 36-year-old Lexington woman, to Ohio Health Mansfield for treatment of minor injuries.

Troopers will continue investigating.
