YOUNGSTOWN The Mahoning County Sheriff's Office was awarded more than $135,000 in grants from the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) for fiscal year 2026.
Sheriff Jerry Greene announced that the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office was awarded $55,000 in Safe Communities grants and another $80,720 in Federal Traffic Safety Grants for fiscal year 2026.
The funds from the Safe Communities grants can be used for projects like traffic safety education, enforcement and engineering. Sheriff Greene is quoted in a press release saying these funds are critical to keep Mahoning County's communities safe.
