FOREST ACRES, S.C. — The City of Forest Acres will to host a special evening of remembrance and resilience, marking ten years since two events that left lasting impacts on the community.
The “Remember & Rise” gathering will be held Friday, October 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Gills Creek Memorial Park.
The event honors the memory of Forest Acres Police Officer Greg Alia , who was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 30, 2015, and reflects on the Thousand Year Flood that devastated much of the Midlands just days later on Oct. 4, 2015.
Guests will enjoy live music from The Reggie Sullivan Band, with dinner, drinks and desserts available for purchase.
Organizers say the evening is meant not only to remember the challenges of 2015, but also to celebrate the community’s resilience and growth
