Former South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback Connor Shaw broke his silence after collapsing while coaching his son's football team last week.

"Many things I am thankful for this evening, none more than this," Shaw wrote on his Instagram story along with a photo of himself wearing what appears to be a hospital nose breathing tube with his wife by his side.

Shaw, 33, was reportedly hospitalized at the Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital intensive care unit, a source confirmed to the State 's Jackson Castellano . The former quarterback was reported to have fallen or passed out and taken away in an ambulance, according to various social media accounts.

Shaw played at South Carolina from 2010 to 2013 and is widely regarded as the greatest quarterback in program history,
