External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar on Monday met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in New York, on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). This was their first face-to-face meeting since trade tensions between India and the United States escalated. The stress on the relations arose after US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on India, citing Delhi’s continued purchase of Russian oil.

In the video clip, Jaishankar and Rubio warmly shook hands as they met on the UNGA session sidelines. As per ANI, the meeting is part of a continuing effort to strengthen India-US ties.
