DANVILLE — Shakeva Frazier, president of the Riverview Rotary Club, knew she would be in the water Saturday as ducks floated down the Dan River.
She wasn’t exactly overjoyed by it.
“It’s alright,” she told the Register & Bee, yelling from a blue raft under the pedestrian bridge near the Danville Community Market. “It took a lot of screaming and yelling and praying, but I made it.”
What she didn’t realize was that she’d have company in that watercraft.
“They told me all I had to do was sit,” she said. “They did not tell me at the end, they throw ducks at you.”
Technically, they weren’t tossing the ducks at Frazier specifically. But they did use the raft as a collection tool.
