AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - An Augusta man was sentenced to life in prison last week for the murder of his 4-month-old son, according to court records.

Records show that Daveon Wood, 22, was found guilty on charges of felony murder, cruelty to children in the first degree and battery, family violence in relation to the Nov. 9, 2024, incident on Windsor Spring Road.

On the charge of first-degree cruelty to children, Daveon was sentenced to 20 years. For the battery, family violence charge, the father received another 10 years.

According to arrest warrants, Wood struck his son, Aiden Wood, by unknown means, several times.
