KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An Independence man is facing multiple criminal charges after investigators say he shot a pregnant woman on Saturday, leaving her in a medically induced coma with critical injuries.

According to court records, Jermaine Hall has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of armed criminal action and one count of fleeing a stop or detention in a Jackson County circuit court.

On Saturday evening, at about 4:40 p.m., Sugar Creek officers were called to the area of Kentucky Road and Sterling Avenue on reports of shots being fired.

When officers arrived, they found a Chevrolet Traverse parked on the shoulder of Kentucky Road with its driver's side door open. They reported seeing a man yelling for help for his wife, who had been shot.
