TRAVERSE CITY – The Traverse City Commission will hold a meeting on Sept. 22 to discuss the authorization of a one-year extension of the purchase agreement for the city-owned property at 159 East State Street (Lot O).
Homestretch, a nonprofit housing company located in Traverse City, made this request to allow additional time to secure sufficient funding for the proposed affordable housing project.
The original property sale closed on May 23, 2023, and gave Homestretch two years to secure efficient funding. Because Homestretch failed to reach the two-year written request deadline, the City Commission will have to take action to waive the requirement of the written request prior to the two-year deadline and then grant the extension to May 23, 2026.
