A toddler died over the summer when he was left unattended and buckled into his car seat inside his home. Dalton police have now arrested his parents.

Police say it was "typical" for the child's parents to leave him in his car seat on the living room floor to watch TV while they were at home.

The Dalton Police Department said they started investigating the death of 22-month-old Grayson Pedigo on June 5 this year.

Dalton police arrested Grayson's parents, 26-year-old Kirsten Schmitt and 30-year-old Anthony Pedigo Monday, September 22. They face charges of second-degree murder and cruelty to children in the second degree.

Schmitt told investigators she was watching TV with her son, but went to the bedroom to wake up Pedigo. She told police they left the child alone for 30 to 40 min
