LOWELL — The Indiana State Police is hosting an open house in hopes of recruiting new faces to become state troopers as it, like many law enforcement agencies across the state, struggles to deal with staffing shortages.
The open house will run this Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lowell Post, 1550 E. 181st Ave.
In addition to serving as a recruiting event, the open house is a chance for the public to visit the post, meet troopers and see K9 demonstrations. Food will be provided.
Those interested in becoming a state trooper will have the chance to meet retired and active ISP troopers and hear about their experiences.
ISP's Lowell Post will begin its hiring process in the next couple of weeks and hopes to add a class of 50 to 60 new troopers, ISP Sgt. Glen Fifield said.
