Tom Holland has suffered a concussion amid production of the latest "Spider-Man" film.

The actor, 29, is taking a break from filming Marvel's "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" out of precaution after experiencing a mild concussion, a person familiar with the situation but unable to speak publicly confirmed to USA TODAY on Monday, Sept. 22. The person said Holland is expected to return to filming in a few days and that no one else has been hurt.

Further details about Holland's concussion were not immediately available. USA TODAY has reached out to the actor's representatives for more information.

The news comes after Holland was photographed stepping out at a charity event in London on Saturday, Sept. 20, where he was accompanied by his fiancée, Zendaya, according to People magazine.

Production on "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," Holland's fourth solo "Spider-Man" movie, began in August in Glasgow, Scotland. Photos showed crowds gathering in Glasgow to catch a glimpse of Holland filming outdoor scenes, including a sequence with Spider-Man on a tank.

"Putting the suit on, it feels different this time somehow," Holland said in a promotional video released by Sony in August. "It's also the first time we've ever had fans on set for day one, so it's really exciting to share this with them."

Speaking to Esquire in an interview published on Sept. 9, Holland said developing the movie has been a "really fun process" and that he was inspired by reading about what fans want to see.

"I did a lot of sneaky research online — looking at what people were saying in the interim between 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' and now 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,'" he said. "I really just kind of put together a vibe of what people were looking for and went to Marvel and said, 'This is what I think we should be doing.' And I think that's exactly what we are doing."

Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal are reportedly reprising their Marvel characters of the Hulk and the Punisher, respectively, in "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," which has cast "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink and "Severance" star Tramell Tillman in undisclosed roles.

Holland debuted as Peter Parker in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War" and went on to play the role in three solo movies and two "Avengers" films. The character was last seen in 2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which ended with the entire world, including his friends MJ (Zendaya) and Ned (Jacob Batalon), losing their memories of him.

"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, making it the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first movie to hit theaters since "The Fantastic Four: First Steps." Holland is also set to appear in Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," which will be released on July 17, 2026.
