Former Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva has picked up a major endorsement in his bid to retake the office in the 2026 elections.
Villanueva, who was defeated by Sheriff Robert Luna in 2022, has been endorsed by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Professional Association, the self-described "voice of Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies, advocating for their rights, safety, and dignity since its founding."
Villanueva captured the endorsement "overwhelmingly," garnering 81.5% of the vote, the organization said in a news release.
