In a significant step to strengthen Jammu and Kashmir’s apple economy, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway on Monday facilitated the transportation of specialised cold storage equipment and insulated puff panels via a dedicated BCN rake. The consignment, loaded at Bari Brahmana Railway Station, is aimed at modernising the Valley’s apple supply chain infrastructure.

Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Jammu Division, told Rising Kashmir that 21 wagons were used, each carrying around 76 containers of 40 kilograms. The cargo, which includes crates and racks for apple storage, was destined for Lassipora (Pulwama) and Anantnag—areas developing advanced cold storage facilities.
