Zohran Mamdani said Monday that he had withdrawn from a televised town hall appearance on WABC scheduled for Thursday in protest of the parent network’s decision to suspend late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.

"Jimmy Kimmel Live!" was pulled off the air indefinitely last week after a Trump administration official threatened to punish ABC and its affiliates for the host’s joke about MAGA supporters distancing themselves from Charlie Kirk’s assassin. On Monday afternoon, Disney announced Kimmel will return to the airwaves on Tuesday. It wasn't immediately clear if the move would prompt Mamdani to reconsider his withdrawal from the town hall.
