Webster Animal Shelter recently put out an urgent request for help caring for a large number of kittens in need of foster homes. Shelter officials said they are currently “overflowing” with kittens, with about 10 needing extra attention.

Most of the kittens are around 3 to 4 weeks old, an age when they are beginning to eat wet food and even nibble on dry food. However, they still require some bottle feeding for the next couple of weeks to ensure proper nutrition and growth.

The shelter asked for experienced bottle feeders who are able to provide feedings every four to five hours. Officials noted that even fostering just a few of the kittens would make a significant difference, as the shelter hopes to divide the group among several foster homes.
