New Delhi, Sept 22: In a significant step toward empowering women and expanding access to clean cooking fuel, the Government of India has approved the release of 25 lakh additional LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) for the financial year 2025–26.
Announcing the move, the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri , said the new connections will be deposit-free and targeted at women from poor households. The initiative, timed with the beginning of Navratri , aims to strengthen the dignity and well-being of women across the country.
