Toronto police are actively searching for an 18-year-old man linked to the shooting death of a 23-year-old rapper in Scarborough. Douvon Ellis, also known as Douvou, is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for first-degree murder. This announcement was made by Det.-Sgt. Phillip Campbell during a news conference on Monday.
The victim, Shakur Clarke-Sargeant, who performed under the name YTN Paco, was shot on the evening of September 15. The incident occurred in a townhouse complex near Kingston Road and Galloway Road. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Clarke-Sargeant was pronounced dead at the scene.
Campbell urged Ellis to turn himself in, stating, "Do the right thing, seek counsel and turn yourself in." He also warned that anyone assisting Ellis could face legal consequences.
Police reported that two suspects were seen fleeing the scene before officers arrived. A 21-year-old man, Jeavon Quashie, was arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with first-degree murder. However, authorities are still searching for Ellis, whose current whereabouts are unknown.
The relationship between Clarke-Sargeant and the suspects remains under investigation, and police have not confirmed whether the shooting is connected to gang activity. A weapon was not recovered at the scene, and investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
