MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call from a boater on Sunday, Sept. 21 around 4:30 p.m.

Officials say the caller reported he and two passengers were on a boat, and it began taking on water very quickly.

CPSD said two adults and one kid were boating when the boat began taking on water. The driver tried to return to the landing, but the boat capsized and all three people went into the water.

Officials say one adult and the juvenile were able to make it to land, but the other adult drowned. His body was found just before 6 p.m.

Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Department, Catahoula Parish Coroner’s Office and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries are conducting an investigation.
