HOUSTON (KIAH) — The Houston Rockets may have suffered a big blow to their team months before the season starts with reports of star point guard Fred VanVleet suffering a torn ACL and could miss the entire upcoming season.

Yahoo Sports reports that VanVleet suffered the injury while at a team minicamp at the Bahamas and reports that he is scheduled for surgery this week.

VanVleet, 31, agreed to a two-year, $50 million deal this offseason and was expected to work alongside star forward Kevin Durant, who the Rockets acquired in the offseason.

The veteran guard averaged 14.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists last season, and showed veteran leadership on a very young team.
