BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Federal electric vehicle tax credits expire at the end of this month, but if you’re interested in buying an EV, there are still incentives to help.
Right now, you can claim a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 when you buy a new EV. But that ends on Sept. 30.
Monday, the Burlington Electric Department announced that on Oct. 1, it will enhance its current $2,300 incentive to $5,000 for all customers, and up to $5,700 for certain income-qualifying EV buyers.
You must be a Burlington Electric customer and buy a new EV for less than $60,000.
