A North Liberty woman was found guilty of murder in Minnesota, about one year after police discovered the dead body of a "former romantic partner" in her trunk while investigating a car crash.
Margot Lewis, 33, was found guilty of second-degree murder without premeditation but with intent; and second-degree murder without intent while committing a felony for transporting the body in her car; by a jury in Hennepin County, Minnesota on Monday, Sept. 22.
The jury found that prosecutors proved Lewis murdered 35-year-old Liara Tsai by stabbing her and failed to seek medical aid for Tsai. The jury also said that Lewis "bound, concealed and transported" Tsai's body from her apartment after the murder.
Lewis is expected to be sentenced in the coming months. She faces up to 40 years in prison.
