A new art installation at the Washington School for the Deaf in Vancouver celebrates the deaf community and completion of a major renovation and expansion project at the school.

Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle and city Councilor Ty Stober joined other visitors to the school Monday morning to celebrate the art installation and in recognition of International Week of Deaf People.

“When I think of all the different programs and awards, I’ve never seen anything so exciting,” McEnerny-Ogle said.

Last year, the school completed the second phase of its $67 million remodel and expansion project with the addition of new academic and athletic buildings .

The Washington School for the Deaf is the state’s only American Sign Language-English dual language school. It serves about 136 deaf and h
