DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- As the sun sets earlier in the day, drivers should plan ahead to lower the risk of danger.

In Dayton on Sept. 22, the expected sunset time is 7:34 p.m. By Oct. 22, that time is projected to be 6:48 p.m.

Kara Hitchens, public affairs manager at AAA, said people should be cognizant of the sunset time if they are out on the roadway.

"Given that it is getting darker earlier, drivers should adjust their schedules for that and plan for that," said Hitchens. "We know that a lot of times people, kind of, self-regulate as to when they're out on the road."

Hitchens suggests people who might not want to be out at night to try and finish their driving during daylight hours.
