PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will soon update the traffic pattern on I-95 North as it prepares to demolish and replace two structurally deficient bridges.
This Friday, Sept. 26, all northbound travel lanes will be shifted to the right and narrowed between Exits 33 and 35.
This is being done so that crews can work on the Broad Street and Eddy Street bridges. RIDOT changed the traffic pattern on the bridges themselves back in May.
Demolition work will begin "later this fall," according to RIDOT.
The lane shifts on the highway are not expected to cause delays, but RIDOT asked that drivers reduce their speed and drive carefully through the work zone.
All of these changes will be in effect until construction is completed in 2027.
