SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - U.S. Marshals Service and the FBI have announced the results of Operation No Escape, which they call a six-week surge of resources to track down fugitives across Georgia.

The coordinated effort between federal, state, and local authorities led to the capture of 177 fugitives, officials say, with 5 of those captured in the Savannah and Brunswick area and 9 coming from Augusta and Statesboro.

Officials say these numbers include 28 fugitives wanted for murder, homicide, or manslaughter, 60 people charged with assault, and eight men accused of crimes against children.

Fifty-six of the fugitives were captured by arrest teams led by the U.S. Marshals Service.
