HOUSTON — The NFL has removed Texans safety Jimmie Ward from its Commissioner Exempt list.
The move comes a few days after a Montgomery County grand jury declined to indict Ward for assault, according to his attorney. That ends the criminal case against Ward.
Ward was originally arrested on June 12 at his home in Magnolia, north of Houston, for allegedly assaulting and threatening the mother of his child, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. He was arrested again after his lawyer said he violated a bond condition involving alcohol.
The NFL had placed Ward on the Commissioner Exempt List, an action that meant he couldn't practice or attend games.
