QUINCY (WGEM) - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows 46% of car seats are misused.
September is National Child Passenger Safety Month and the Adams County Health Department is reminding parents about the importance of children being in their car seat correctly.
Johanna Voss, Safe Kids Adams County coordinator, said some of the most common mistakes parents make with their car seats include transitioning a child to front facing before they’re ready, not having the top tether attached, and transitioning to a seat belt booster too early. She said these mistakes can greatly increase a child’s risk of harm in the car.
