A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 4:14 p.m. for strong thunderstorms until 5 p.m. for Crawford County.
The storms are foreseen to bring pea-sized hail (0.25 inches) and wind gusts of up to 50 mph.
"At 4:14 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near Atlantic, or 11 miles southwest of Meadville, moving northeast at 45 mph," explains the weather service. "Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible."
Locations impacted by the alert include Meadville, Guys Mills, Adamsville, Lincolnville, Atlantic, Cochranton, Hydetown, Blooming Valley, Townville, Geneva and Hartstown.
The weather service states, "If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building."
