LOGAN — A 22-year-old Providence man who was arrested in January for allegedly assaulting a woman has been cleared of any criminal charges.

William Carter Murdock was briefly booked into the Cache County Jail after Cache County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a domestic dispute. He was later charged with one count of aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.

According to court records, Murdock appeared Aug. 22 for a preliminary hearing, where a judge would have determined whether or not there was sufficient evidence to justify the charges. Instead, prosecutors requested to dismiss the case without prejudice, meaning they could be refiled at a later date.
