CASTLETON, Vt. (WCAX) - A federally funded program that helps students at VTSU-Castleton reach their higher ed goals could be under threat.
It wasn’t long ago that Emily Macias was thinking about dropping out of college.
“I would’ve almost definitely dropped out. I would’ve been done last year. I don’t have enough money, I don’t have the resources I need. I don’t know what to do with myself, this is too hard,” Macias said.
But now, she’s on the hunt for her next step in higher education, thanks to the McNair Scholars Program . It helps low-income, underrepresented and first-generation college students attend grad school.
