BRAINERD — A 55-year-old Brainerd man was arrested Sept. 15 after he allegedly assaulted a Brainerd Taxi driver.

Troy Mitchell Thiel was charged with felony simple robbery, along with misdemeanor assault and two counts of theft.

Thiel made his first appearance in Crow Wing County District Court on Sept. 17 and is due back in court on Oct. 21. As of Monday, Sept. 22, Thiel is in custody at the Crow Wing County Jail and has a $50,000 bail or bond with conditions.

Criminal charges

On Sept. 15, 2025, law enforcement was dispatched to the 600 block of Laurel Street around 9:45 p.m. for a report of a man lying down in the roadway with a head injury. Additional information came into dispatch stating the victim and Thiel were yelling at one another.
