HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- Health officials say samples from the lake show a presence of a harmful algal bloom in Daviess County at Carpenter's Lake.
Officials say the blooms can occur when waterways have excess nutrients, warm temperatures and low-flow or low-water conditions. Officials advise people and pets to stay out of the water as some cases the blooms can cause rashes, stomach pain and respiratory irritation.
Officials also advise that if people suspect they have seen a harmful bloom they should contact the Kentucky Division of Water.
