A public school in New Haven has been awarded a state grant to support the campus's extended day, or afterschool program.

Barack Obama Magnet University School will receive $150,000 from the Connecticut Judicial Branch.

The grant money will be divided over the next two fiscal years, providing the school with $75,000 per year.

Students at the magnet school are dismissed at 2:40 p.m. The extended hours will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. according to the school district’s director of communication.
