ST. PAUL, Minn. (GRAY) – Minnesota’s Advisory Committee on Capitol Area Security (ACCAS) met Monday for the second time since August, talking about possible security upgrades to the state Capitol mall.
The committee heard a series of presentations: one from the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and the other from the Minnesota Department of Administration.
The NCSL presented an aggregate of Capitol Security measures that have been implemented in other states.
Their survey collected data from 41 other states. Of the 41: 27 states prohibited firearms completely; 24 have two or fewer entrances to the Capitol building; and at least 33 have metal detectors at the entrance to the building.
