LUBBOCK, Texas -- Last weekend's win over Utah wasn't the only strong showing for Texas Tech, as the Red Raiders made several appearances throughout the list of Big 12 weekly awards. It marked the third week in a row that Texas Tech had a player honored by the conference.
Starting off, backup quarterback Will Hammond dazzled in relief of an injured Behren Morton. He ignited the offense and led the team to 21 straight-points to secure the win against the Utes. Hammond's outing included two touchdown passes and over 150 yards through the air. For his efforts, the redshirt freshman was named as one of the conference's Offensive Players of the Week. In addition, he claimed the honors of best freshman performance in the Big 12.
